In an interview with Etimes, Abhishek Bachchan weighed in on the misinformation about him making rounds on social media and why he chooses not to issue any clarification.

“Previously, things that were said about me didn’t affect me. Today, I have a family, and it’s very upsetting. Even if I clarify something, people will turn it around. Because negative news sells. You’re not me. You don’t live my life. You’re not answerable to the people that I’m answerable to.”

He added, “People who put out such negativity have to live with their conscience. They need to deal with their conscience and answer to their maker. See, it’s not just me. I don’t get affected. I know what the rigmarole of this place is. There are families involved. I’ll give you a very good example of this whole new fad of trolling.”

Abhishek Bachchan further shared an anecdote about a particularly hurtful comment left by a troll on one of his social media posts. His friend, Aarya actor Sikandar Kher was so outraged after reading that comment that he responded by publicly posting Abhishek Bachchan’s address and challenging the social media user to say it to his face.

“It’s so convenient to sit anonymously behind a computer screen and write the nastiest things. You do realise you’re hurting somebody. No matter how thick-skinned they are, it affects them. How would you like it if somebody did that to you?” he recalled.

Challenging online haters to face him in person, Abhishek Bachchan added, “If you’re going to say it on the internet, I dare you to come say it to me on my face. That person clearly will never have the guts to come and tell me this on my face. If someone comes and tells me things on my face, then I will feel they have conviction. I will respect that.”

  • Jasprit Bumrah ‘Available’ For 2nd India vs England Test, But Coach Adds A ‘Technical’ Disclaimer

India assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate confirmed pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah is “available” for the second Test against England at Edgbaston, but it is yet to be decided whether he would feature in the final XI, considering his limited utilisation for the five-match series. After the conclusion of the series opener, head coach Gautam Gambhir declared that the management would not budge on Bumrah’s three-match utilisation. There were recommendations from fans and former cricketers to use Bumrah in all five Tests, but Gambhir quickly turned down the suggestion, claiming they were more concerned about his workload.

India lined up with its pace spearhead, Bumrah, in the series opener at Headingley but still ended on the wrong side of the result. He dazzled in the first innings with figures of 5/83 but lost his magic and returned wicketless in the second.

With Bumrah’s threat vanished into thin air, England trounced India by gunning down a 371-run target, their second-highest successful chase in the format. With the crafty quick available for two Tests out of four, Doeschate affirmed that they have to evaluate which surface would be optimum to get the best out of the 31-year-old.

“With Bumrah, he is ready to play. So, like I said in the very first question, it’s how we manage these four tests. So if we feel like there’s value in playing him in this Test, we’ll make that call at the very last minute. But I’m talking about whether, how the pitch is going to play. Are we better off holding him back for Lord’s and maybe Manchester or the Oval? So it’s all those factors,” he said.

The accident occurred while the family was on their way to drop their son off at his school hostel. Seebe Gowda, who lived with his family in Magadi town, had come to Kunigal to drop off his son Bhanukiran Gowda, a Class 8 student at Valley School near Bidanagere on the outskirts of Kunigal.

On Sunday evening, the family first dropped off their elder daughter, Varnashree, in Bengaluru, before proceeding towards the school to drop Bhanukiran. Seebe Gowda was driving the car himself at the time of the accident, accompanied by his wife, daughter, and son.

Hearing the collision, locals and other travellers first reached the spot and tried to help the victims. They called the police, who reached the spot quickly. A case has been registered at the Kunigal Police Station, and an investigation is underway.

  • N. Ramchander Rao To Be New Telangana BJP Chief

Senior leader N. Ramchander Rao is likely to be appointed as the new President of Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Telangana unit, party sources said on Monday.

The party’s central leadership is understood to have finalised Mr Rao as the State BJP President.

A High Court advocate and former Member of Legislative Council (MLC), Rao will file the nomination for the post on Monday afternoon.

With the Central leadership conveying its choice, no other leader is likely to enter the fray.

Mr Rao is likely to be elected unanimously on Tuesday.

Though Union Minister of State Bandi Sanjay and BJP MPs Eatala Rajender and Arvind Dharmapuri were seen as strong contenders for the post, the BJP’s central leadership is believed to have preferred Ramchander Rao, a party loyalist and non-controversial figure.

A Brahmin, Mr Rao had been active in Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha and the legal cell of the BJP.Nominations can be filed on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. while nominations can be withdrawn from 4 to 5 p.m. the same day.

Union Minister of State for Ministry of Labour and Employment, Shobha Karandlaje, will serve as the Returning Officer.

They included Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay, who was removed as the state BJP President before 2023 Assembly elections, MPs Arvind Dharmapuri, Eatala Rajender, K. Laxman and D.K. Aruna.

Union Minister Kishan Reddy was appointed State BJP President ahead of 2023 Assembly elections, replacing Bandi Sanjay.

While the BJP could win just eight seats in 119-member Assembly, it improved its performance in Lok Sabha polls to double the tally of seats to eight.

  • No Police Licence Needed For Hotels, Pools, Discotheques In Delhi

Described as a landmark step by officials, it is expected to significantly reduce red tape, enable business expansion, and minimise scope for harassment by regulatory agencies

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) today notified orders issued by Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena on June 19, aimed at promoting ease of doing business in the national capital.

These orders exempt a wide range of establishments – including swimming pools, restaurants, hotels, motels, guest houses, discotheques, video game parlours, amusement parks and auditoriums – from the requirement of obtaining licences from Delhi Police.

According to officials, the MHA notification comes following the intervention of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who ensured speedy clearance of the proposal forwarded by Delhi Police.

The police had earlier referred the Lt Governor’s reform directives to the MHA for a formal notification.

While partial liberalisation of licensing norms for some of these categories had taken place in October 2023 – also on the initiative of Lt Governor Saxena – the current move does away with police licensing requirements entirely for these sectors, officials said.
